Detailed Report
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially simplified the process for acquiring firearms licenses in Punjab. As of today, April 17, 2026, citizens can complete their biometric verification directly through the Pak ID mobile app.
Citizens can now submit their firearm applications entirely online. You must use the official Punjab Firearms License website (https://pal.nadra.gov.pk). After applying online, you can verify your biometrics instantly on the Pak ID app. Consequently, this digital integration completely eliminates previous procedural difficulties.
Previously, the Punjab Home Department issued a strict notification in November 2025. This order immediately halted all manual and institutional firearm licensing processes. It also stopped manual renewals and older computerization procedures. Furthermore, the department rescinded all prior instructions regarding these operations. However, officials gave old manual license holders a final opportunity to transition to the new computerized licenses.
Meanwhile, the Home Department demanded strict accountability regarding the province’s security. The department requested detailed progress reports from divisional commissioners and judicial additional secretaries. These mandatory reports must cover all licenses computerized between March and November 2025. Additionally, government officials want comprehensive updates on the ongoing collection of illegal firearms. Finally, the reports must detail the overall progress of the province-wide deweaponization campaign.
