Detailed Report
A major confrontation has erupted in Bari Imam, where the Capital Development Authority (CDA) continued its anti-encroachment operation after police registered an FIR against 250 people, including terrorism charges, following violent clashes in the area.
According to police sources, the case was registered by the Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of CDA Assistant Director Enforcement Zafar Shah.
The FIR alleges that armed locals resisted the demolition drive, attacked the enforcement team, and set government vehicles on fire during the operation.
Authorities say the operation in the Noor Pur Shahaan area is continuing with heavy machinery as several structures deemed illegal are being demolished. Following the registration of the case, police have launched raids to arrest those named in the FIR. Residents in the area, however, say the demolitions began without giving them enough time to remove household belongings.
Some locals also alleged that their personal items were seized during the drive. The CDA has rejected these claims, stating that multiple notices had been issued before the operation and that the action is being carried out in line with court-backed orders.
Residents, many of whom say they have lived in the area for years, insist the eviction is unjust and argue that they are being forcibly removed without adequate notice or compensation.
