PSL 11 Final May Be Decided by Points Table Rule

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 champion will be decided by league standings if the final cannot be completed.

The PSL final is scheduled for May 3, with May 4 designated as a reserve day to ensure completion of the title match.

Officials stated that all efforts will be made to complete the match under playing conditions, including reducing overs or extending scheduled playing hours if required.

If the final of the ongoing 11 edition cannot be completed on May 3 due to weather or other disruptions, the match will be resumed or restarted on May 4.

Tournament regulations require a minimum number of overs to be bowled for a result, failing which the reserve day will be used.

Match officials will assess conditions across both days to determine whether a result can be achieved under standard playing rules.

If no result is possible on both May 3 and May 4, the team finishing higher on the league-stage points table will be declared champion.

The rules specify that no shared trophy will be awarded, ensuring a single winner based on standings from the completed league-stage matches.

This provision applies only if both scheduled match days fail to produce a result due to weather interruptions or other unavoidable circumstances.

The policy increases the importance of league-stage performances, as final standings could determine the champion if the final match cannot be completed on either day.

Teams placed higher in the standings gain an advantage under this rule, as their consistency across the tournament becomes a deciding factor.

The regulation ensures a result is declared without extending the tournament schedule or introducing additional deciding mechanisms beyond the existing competition structure.
