Zong Tests 5G in Islamabad With Speeds of More Than 1,400 Mbps

Zong has announced the results of its latest 5G speed tests in Islamabad, with peak download speeds exceeding 1.4 Gbps. The pre-launch trials were conducted across multiple urban topologies, showcasing the network’s technical readiness for a nationwide rollout.

According to the telecom operator, these high speeds reflect the company’s optimized infrastructure and spectrum utilization, with Zong’s “output-to-spectrum” efficiency as a key factor in achieving such performance benchmarks.

Zong has led several milestones in Pakistan’s 5G landscape:

2019: Conducted the country’s first 5G trial, establishing Pakistan’s first functional 5G node.

2020: Completed South Asia’s first 5G international video call, demonstrating low-latency capabilities.

2021–2025: Continued investment in infrastructure, AI-integrated traffic management, and network upgrades.

The company outlined its “three-pillar” approach for the upcoming 5G launch:

Customer Experience: Ensuring a smooth transition for existing 4G users to the new high-capacity 5G network.

Diversified Services: Expanding offerings and capabilities enabled by 5G.

AI-Driven Optimization: Intelligent network self-management to maintain peak speeds during periods of high traffic.

Zong’s recent trials mark another step in the operator’s long-term 5G roadmap. This is the second such reveal by a local telecom operator. Last week, Jazz posted this year’s first early testing results of the country, showing a handset connected to a 5G signal with download speeds of 1,400 Mbps.

Ok I also have their (Zong’s) 2019 5g test video where they scored closer to 1.6Gbps on download and 70 on upload… after all these years they still couldn’t beat their own 5 year old result.
