23,000 Vehicles Blacklisted in Karachi Over Unpaid E-Challans

More than 23,000 vehicles have been blacklisted in Karachi for repeatedly failing to pay electronic traffic fines since the launch of the e-challan system in October 2025, officials confirmed.

According to Karachi Traffic Police, over 600,000 e-challans have been issued under the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) since October 27, 2025, reflecting increased enforcement of traffic laws through digital monitoring.

The figures were shared during a high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General Sindh Police, Javed Alam Odho, to review traffic management and the performance of the faceless e-ticketing system. The session was also attended by Karachi Traffic Police Chief Pir Muhammad Shah, who briefed officials on the system’s progress.

Authorities stated that vehicles with a history of unpaid fines have been added to a provincial blacklist as part of strict enforcement measures. Officials also announced that a crackdown will be launched after Eid ul Fitr against motorcycles operating without number plates.

During the meeting, the IG took notice of an increase in traffic accidents across Karachi and directed authorities to submit a detailed report identifying the causes and recommending preventive measures.

Despite these concerns, officials described traffic arrangements during Ramadan as satisfactory and said efforts are ongoing to further improve the system, enhance public convenience, and expand traffic management services across the city.
