Detailed Report
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has rolled out a countrywide plan to manage traffic and ensure safer travel during the upcoming Eid ul Fitr holidays, when a large number of people are expected to travel to their hometowns.
Inspector General NHMP Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry has directed officers to remain on high alert and use all available resources to facilitate commuters and maintain smooth traffic flow on motorways and national highways.
As part of the plan, the NHMP will carry out strict monitoring of public transport vehicles to prevent overcharging and overloading during the holiday period. Authorities said transporters will be required to follow government-approved fares, and any violations will result in legal action.
Officers have also been instructed to increase checks at transport terminals and along major routes to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Transport companies have been directed to ensure vehicle fitness and avoid overloading passengers.
Patrolling has been intensified across motorways and highways, and additional personnel are being deployed at key locations to manage the expected increase in traffic and reduce the risk of accidents.
The NHMP said the measures are aimed at ensuring safe and comfortable travel during Eid. Travelers have also been advised to follow traffic rules, avoid speeding, and cooperate with authorities to help maintain safety on the roads.
