Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board had listed the team under the name Rawalpindi Pindiz, reflecting its association with the city of Rawalpindi in official records.
Despite that listing, the franchise continued to use the shorter Pindiz branding across its communication channels, creating a difference between the board’s designation and its public identity.
Sources familiar with the matter say the board had directed the franchise to include the full name of its affiliated city, Rawalpindi, within the team’s official title.
The latest update suggests the franchise has now aligned with those instructions by incorporating Rawalpindi into its name, though an official confirmation from either side is still awaited.
The franchise was acquired by Walee Technologies for Rs 2.45 billion following significant ownership changes, as the team previously operated under a different identity before entering a new phase.
Previously known as Multan Sultans, the franchise became available after former owner Ali Tareen chose not to renew the agreement following Pakistan Super League season 10.
PCB temporarily took control before auctioning the team, where Walee Technologies secured ownership after competitive bidding, with owner Ahsan Tahir opting to align its identity with Rawalpindi.
