Detailed Report
A Pakistani national has died in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after debris from a missile interception fell in Abu Dhabi.
Al Jazeera reported that the Abu Dhabi Media Office identified the victim as a Pakistani citizen. The person was killed in the Bani Yas area when fragments from an intercepted missile came down in a residential locality.
The incident adds to a growing list of Pakistanis harmed outside the main theatre of fighting as the confrontation triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran continues to ripple across the Gulf.
On February 28, a Pakistani citizen in the UAE was killed during the interception of an Iranian missile following retaliatory attacks.
Another Pakistani was later killed in Dubai’s Al Barsha neighborhood on March 8 after debris from an aerial interception fell onto a vehicle. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had expressed grief over the deaths and instructed officials to assist with the repatriation of the bodies.
The same day, a fisherman from Gwadar was also reported dead in Iranian waters after debris from a missile, intercepted by Iranian air defenses, hit his boat. Local authorities identified him as Muhammad Tayyab, a resident of Gwadar district in Balochistan.
In a separate incident on March 6, falling debris in Abu Dhabi injured six Pakistani and Nepalese nationals amid heightened drone and missile activity over the UAE.
The wider escalation began on February 28 when the US and Israel carried out unprovoked strikes on Iran. Since then, Iranian missiles and drones have targeted Israel and other locations across the region, including US-linked and strategic sites in Gulf states, raising the risk for civilians and expatriate communities.
