PMD Predicts Rain and Hailstorms in Northern Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy weather with rain, wind and thunderstorms in the upper parts of Pakistan on Thursday, with isolated hailstorms also expected in some areas.
According to the PMD, the weather system will mainly affect upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, and the Pothohar Plateau region.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is expected, while hailstorms may occur at a few locations.
Rain and thunderstorms are likely in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Bajaur. Most other districts in the province are expected to remain mainly dry.
Partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is also predicted in parts of Punjab, particularly in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Jhelum, Gujrat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Murree, and the Galiyat region. Isolated hailstorms may also occur in these areas.
The rest of the province is likely to experience dry weather.
The PMD said most districts of Sindh will continue to experience hot and dry weather, while dry conditions are also expected across most parts of Balochistan.
Cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, where isolated hailstorms may occur.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department also warned that winds could carry pollutants towards western Pakistan due to the recent situation in Iran, which may temporarily worsen air quality in those areas.
During the last 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region, with isolated hailstorms recorded at some locations.
