Detailed Report
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has directed city authorities to establish beautification zones and green belts along major roads as part of ongoing infrastructure development efforts across Karachi.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting of the city’s Engineering Department, where the Director General of Technical Services briefed the mayor on multiple development schemes currently underway.
During the meeting, Wahab instructed officials to ensure that every road development project also includes beautification work, emphasizing that infrastructure upgrades should improve the city’s overall appearance alongside functional improvements.
The mayor directed departments to complete all ongoing schemes by June 30, citing the possibility of heavy rainfall this year and the need to avoid inconvenience for residents.
He also instructed officials to prioritize major road projects, noting that funds for the work have already been allocated.
Wahab stressed that the municipal administration must remain fully engaged in development activities and directed departments to continue work on weekends if necessary to meet deadlines.
He said Karachi residents have started witnessing visible improvements in the city and urged departments to further improve construction standards.
The mayor also called for additional green belts and beautification measures, stating that Karachi’s future development should focus equally on infrastructure modernization and the city’s visual outlook.
