Detailed Report
Huawei has introduced two new smartwatches designed for children, the Watch Kids X1 and Watch Kids X1 Pro.
The devices were announced globally during Huawei’s Innovative Product Launch event alongside the Watch Fit 5 series, Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition, and Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition.
Both smartwatches feature a child-focused design with a flippable and 360-degree rotating body. The standard Watch Kids X1 includes a soft silicone strap, while the X1 Pro adds a detachable design that allows the watch to fit inside a camera-style case included in the box.
Huawei said the setup allows children to use the smartwatch more like a handheld camera. The devices feature a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with 480 x 408 resolution and include an anti-sunlight protective film.
Both models also include a 5MP ultra-wide front camera and a 13MP rear camera for photos and HD video calls through Huawei’s FamCare app. The Watch Kids X1 Pro comes in Black and Purple.
Huawei is placing strong emphasis on child safety features with the Watch Kids X1 series. The smartwatches support dual-band GNSS positioning, dual-band Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, Bluetooth, WLAN, and GNSS tracking.
Through the FamCare app, parents can monitor activity status in real time, create safe and dangerous zones, receive alerts when children enter or leave those zones, manage app usage, set focus time, block calls, and make video calls directly to the watch.
The devices also include an Emergency SOS button that can send alerts or place emergency calls when pressed five times. Health-related features include emotional well-being monitoring and heart rate tracking.
Both watches include 2GB RAM. The Watch Kids X1 offers 32GB storage, while the X1 Pro includes 64GB. Sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, barometer, optical heart rate sensor, magnetometer, and Hall effect sensor.
The watches also feature built-in speakers and microphones along with 2 ATM, IP68, and IP69 water resistance ratings.
Huawei claims up to one day of typical battery life.
The Watch Kids X1 is available in Blue and Pink and is priced at about $293. The Watch Kids X1 Pro is priced at roughly $410. Huawei said both models are expected to go on sale soon in multiple markets.
