Detailed Report
Goods transporters across Pakistan have increased freight fares by 4 percent after the latest rise in petroleum prices, saying higher fuel costs have significantly increased operational expenses.
Transport leader Malik Shehzad Awan said the government measures have created serious difficulties for the transporters, adding that the situation has become so severe that some operators are being forced to park their vehicles.
He also demanded the immediate removal of toll taxes, withholding tax, and traffic fines to provide relief to the transport sector.
Awan further warned that the transporters could announce a nationwide strike if the government does not review its policies.
He added that the continuous increase in fuel prices has become unbearable and said goods transporters are not being provided with any facilities or relief by the government.
