Detailed Report
DJI has unveiled the Osmo Mobile 8P smartphone gimbal with a detachable remote control featuring a built-in touchscreen.
The remote mirrors the live view from the connected smartphone and includes a joystick that allows users to control the gimbal remotely while framing shots with the phone’s rear cameras.
The Osmo Mobile 8P includes ActiveTrack 8.0, which DJI said improves subject tracking performance and keeps users in frame even in crowded environments. The gimbal also supports Apple DockKit integration, allowing iPhone users to connect their devices directly to the accessory.
The device features a 3-axis stabilization system along with a built-in tripod and a 215mm extension rod. DJI said the tripod now opens wider to improve stability during use. The Osmo Mobile 8P weighs 386 grams and is powered by a 3,350mAh battery rated for up to 10 hours of use. The gimbal can also charge a connected smartphone through USB Type-C.
DJI equipped the Osmo Mobile 8P with 360-degree Infinite Spin support, allowing unlimited horizontal rotation for smoother captures from different angles.
The device also supports low-angle shooting modes designed for capturing footage from a child’s or pet’s eye level.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P is priced at $187 for the standard package. A $223 bundle adds the DJI Multifunctional Module 2, which includes a fill light with eight brightness levels and dedicated gesture-based subject tracking.
DJI is also offering a $258 bundle that includes the Multifunctional Module 2 along with the DJI Mic Mini 2.
