NAB Investigates Highway Contracts, Issues Notices to 40 Sindh Contractors

National Accountability Bureau Sukkur has intensified its investigation into alleged irregularities in public infrastructure projects by issuing notices to 40 government contractors involved in development works across Sindh.

According to official sources, NAB Sukkur has sought detailed records of contracts awarded between 2014 and 2025. The inquiry also includes dozens of Executive Engineers (XENs) associated with the provincial highways department, indicating an expansion in the scope of the investigation.

The anti-corruption watchdog has directed major contractors operating from Karachi to Kashmore to submit complete documentation, including work orders, payment records, and other relevant project files.

The probe follows allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of funds in large-scale highway contracts across the province.

Sources said several contractors were initially summoned to appear before investigators on April 30. Those who failed to comply have now been issued second notices as NAB continues collecting responses and verifying records.

Officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and further action will be taken based on evidence provided by contractors and government officials linked to the projects.

The development is part of NAB’s broader efforts to improve transparency and accountability in public infrastructure spending, particularly in major highway development schemes across Sindh.
