Detailed Report
Attock Refinery Limited has resumed operations of its main crude distillation unit after a temporary shutdown caused by supply disruptions and logistical constraints, according to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The company said its primary unit, with a capacity of 32,400 barrels per day, has restarted following normalization of crude oil receipts and product dispatches through oil tankers. It was closed on April 22nd following supply disruptions in the region.
The shutdown had occurred due to an abrupt suspension of oil tanker movement, triggered by strict security arrangements and road closures in Islamabad linked to expected high level foreign delegations and diplomatic engagements related to US Iran talks.
These restrictions disrupted both inbound crude supplies and outbound fuel distribution, forcing the refinery to halt its main processing unit. The situation also led to accumulation of petrol and diesel stocks at the refinery while fresh crude supply declined sharply.
Officials had earlier warned of potential supply concerns in certain areas due to these combined factors, although authorities maintained that overall national fuel stocks remained sufficient. With operations now restored, the refinery is expected to gradually normalize supply flows, easing pressure on fuel distribution in the northern region.
