Detailed Report
Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra is still far from launch, but early leaks have started to reveal possible changes for the next-generation flagship.
A recent report pointed to a redesigned rear camera module, and a new leak now claims Samsung is testing a new primary camera sensor for the device.
Tipster Smart Pikachu shared on Weibo that Samsung is testing a 200MP main camera with variable aperture for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Variable aperture allows the camera to physically adjust the lens opening depending on lighting conditions. This can help improve results in both bright scenes and low-light environments.
Samsung last used variable aperture technology in the Galaxy S10 series. If the leak is accurate, the Galaxy S27 Ultra would bring the feature back after several years.
Recent leaks also suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra may move to a triple rear camera setup.
That change could mean Samsung drops the 3x telephoto camera, which has been a regular part of Ultra models in recent years.
The 200MP main camera is also said to support LOFIC technology.
Apple is also rumored to be preparing a variable aperture rear camera for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series.
If both leaks prove accurate, variable aperture could become a key feature in the next round of premium smartphones.
