The Government of Sindh has unveiled plans to develop its own power generation, transmission, and distribution system aimed at providing cheaper electricity to consumers and boosting industrial growth.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah during a meeting with Maja Derrous Mortensen at the Chief Minister’s House. The discussions focused on energy cooperation, investment opportunities, and environmental sustainability.
The chief minister said the provincial government is working to establish a Sindh-run transmission company to improve efficiency in electricity supply and reduce line losses. He noted that the primary goal is to lower electricity costs for both households and industries by enhancing generation capacity and streamlining distribution.
Highlighting the province’s natural advantages, Murad Ali Shah pointed to Sindh’s vast potential in renewable energy, particularly wind power along its coastal belt. He emphasized that the region could become a major hub for clean energy projects.
The chief minister also invited Danish companies to invest in wind energy and other green infrastructure, underlining the province’s commitment to sustainable development.
Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen expressed strong interest in Sindh’s renewable energy initiatives, especially in wind power, and reiterated Denmark’s support for environmentally friendly projects.
Both sides agreed that collaboration in green energy could open new avenues for investment and strengthen economic ties between the two regions.
The meeting also covered coastal development plans, including the transformation of Keti Bandar into a modern deep-sea port. Officials said the project could ease pressure on Karachi Port and create new trade routes.
The discussions come as Pakistan and Denmark mark 75 years of diplomatic relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
Officials noted that enhanced collaboration in green energy could play a key role in driving economic growth while addressing environmental challenges.
