PM Grants Pakistan Digital Authority Control Over AI-Related Federal Hiring

The Prime Minister’s Office has directed all federal ministries and divisions to obtain mandatory clearance from the Pakistan Digital Authority before proceeding with recruitment related to artificial intelligence, centralizing oversight of AI-related hiring across the federal government.

Under the new directive, all processes involving the creation of AI-related posts, recruitment approvals, job advertisements, terms of reference, and hiring procedures will require prior technical vetting and concurrence from the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).

According to official instructions issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the move places AI human resource recruitment under centralized technical supervision to ensure consistency and oversight across ministries, divisions, and subordinate organizations.

The directive references an Office Memorandum issued by the Pakistan Digital Authority on April 20, 2026, and states that no recruitment action related to artificial intelligence roles may proceed without prior approval from the authority.

Officials say the measure is aimed at strengthening governance in a rapidly evolving technology sector, while ensuring AI-related hiring aligns with national digital priorities and technical standards.
