Detailed Report
Samsung has launched the Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HS with a price tag of €1,499. It stands out for being the first in the world to bring an overkill 6K resolution screen.
Samsung describes the Odyssey G8 as the world’s first 6K gaming monitor. It features a 32-inch IPS panel with a 6144 x 3456 resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The monitor also includes a 3K mode with a 3072 x 1728 resolution that raises the refresh rate to 330Hz.
The display delivers 224 pixels per inch for sharper image quality. It supports HDR10+ Gaming, which Samsung says improves brightness and contrast in real time. The panel also covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and offers 178-degree viewing angles.
The Odyssey G8 includes a 1ms GtG response time for smoother motion during gameplay. It also supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium to reduce screen tearing.
Additional specifications include a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and peak brightness of 350 nits.
Samsung has equipped the monitor with two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, and a USB hub with multiple ports.
The ergonomic stand supports height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments for improved comfort during extended use. The Odyssey G8 comes in a black finish and supports VESA wall mounting.
The monitor does not include built-in speakers, but it offers a headphone jack for external audio devices. It weighs 7.4 kg with the stand and ships with a factory calibration report for accurate out-of-the-box color performance.
