Balochistan Launches ‘Kitab Gaari’, ‘Science Vans’ to Boost Rural Education

The Balochistan Government has launched innovative mobile education initiatives, “Kitab Gaari” (Book Vans) and “Science Ki Sawari” (Science Vans), to expand learning opportunities in remote and underserved areas.

Originally introduced as mobile schools, the projects have evolved into moving libraries, teaching centres, and mobile science laboratories.

Officials say the initiative is helping children in far-flung villages access education that was previously unavailable.

The Book Van project is currently operational in 14 districts, including Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Pishin, Chaman, Quetta, Lasbela, Hub, Gwadar, Jaffarabad, Kachhi, Kech, Jhal Magsi, and Noshki.

Meanwhile, the Science Van is actively functioning in Jaffarabad district, where it promotes scientific thinking, curiosity, and hands-on learning.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the initiative, calling it a beacon of hope for the province’s education sector.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting innovative efforts that ensure children gain access to modern knowledge and skills.

The chief minister noted that the programme is also strengthening school enrolment campaigns by encouraging more children to pursue education.

He said such initiatives are key to building a brighter and more educated future for Balochistan.
