Detailed Report
Swedish technology company Ovzon unveiled the Ovzon T8, claiming it is the smallest mobile satellite terminal in its class, enabling new connectivity capabilities across military, civil defense and commercial sectors.
The Ovzon T8 sets a new benchmark for on-the-move terminals designed to maintain stable satellite links while platforms are in motion. The terminal measures 7.3 inches by 5.1 inches (18.5 centimeters by 13 centimeters) and weighs just 4.6 pounds. This compact form factor allows installation on systems that previously could not support on-the-move terminal technology.
Ovzon CEO Per Norén stated that the T8 represents a step-change in what is possible with mobile satellite communications. By drastically reducing size, the company is enabling customers to rethink how and where connectivity can be deployed. The terminal can be integrated across a wide range of military platforms including unmanned systems, surface vessels and vehicles operating across land, air and sea.
The Ovzon T8 combines ultra-small form factor with industry-leading performance, making it ideal for seamless integration across platforms from unmanned systems to vehicles and vessels. The terminal supports new use cases that were previously not feasible because of size, weight and power constraints.
When paired with Ovzon’s proprietary geostationary Ovzon 3 satellite, the T8 delivers high-throughput, low-latency and resilient connectivity for demanding environments where traditional communications solutions fall short. Together they provide mission-critical connectivity in contested or remote settings. Commercial service on the Ovzon 3 satellite commenced on July 5, 2024.
Norén explained that the combination of the new Ovzon T8 terminal and the Ovzon 3 satellite reinforces the company’s position at the forefront of satellite communications, reflecting its focus on offering the most resilient integrated satellite communication solutions.
Beyond advanced engineering and design, the Ovzon T8 introduces improved cost efficiency. Streamlined integration and reduced hardware footprint lower both deployment and operational costs, making high-performance satellite connectivity more accessible.
The terminal is built to maintain performance in demanding conditions while reducing operational costs. It enables real-time situational awareness and mission-critical communications while platforms remain in motion.
Ovzon offers integrated mobile satellite communications services, SATCOM-as-a-Service, to customers globally. The services combine high throughput satellite networks, mobile satellite terminals, gateway services and dedicated customer support. Ovzon’s offerings meet the growing demand for mission-critical connectivity for customers with high performance, mobility and resiliency requirements including defense, national security and public safety.
The company has offices in Stockholm, Sweden as well as Herndon, Virginia and Tampa, Florida in the United States. Ovzon is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm Mid Cap.
