Detailed Report
More than 1,300 fresh engineering graduates have officially joined the second batch of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program of the Pakistan Engineering Council’s (PEC).
In total, 1,700 graduates were selected through a transparent digital balloting process conducted at the end of March. The initiative is designed to provide industry-specific training and ease the transition of engineers from academic learning to professional practice.
The remaining selected candidates will be placed after completing their reporting formalities through subsequent phases of digital balloting.
The selected graduates have been welcomed by senior officials in their respective organizations and have begun orientation sessions and onboarding procedures. Their placements span multiple departments across more than 60 public and private sector organizations, ensuring exposure to diverse industries and real-world engineering challenges.
The program includes participation from federal and provincial departments, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, as well as leading public and private sector employers. These organizations have committed to providing hands-on experience through practical projects and field-based training.
Notably, 300 seats were exclusively reserved for engineering graduates from Balochistan, all of which have now been successfully filled, enabling strong representation from the province in the program.
Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir expressed satisfaction over the successful rollout of the second batch, highlighting that the merit-based and fully digital selection process ensured transparency and fairness. He said the program is designed not only to provide technical exposure but also to strengthen soft skills and professional competence.
“By placing young engineers in real working environments, we are helping them develop both technical expertise and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the growth of Pakistan’s engineering sector,” he said.
The GET Program offers six months of structured training, including five months of field experience and one month of dedicated skill development. Participants receive a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 and are awarded a QR-verified completion certificate upon successful graduation from the program.
Fully funded by PEC, the initiative is aimed at empowering young engineers, strengthening the engineering workforce, and contributing to Pakistan’s long-term development goals.
