Online Attendance Made Mandatory in Govt Schools

The Education Department of Punjab has made online attendance mandatory for students and teachers in government schools.

According to official instructions, any student or teacher who fails to mark attendance online will be considered absent.

Sources said strict action will be taken against schools that fail to update data on the School Information System. All Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been directed to ensure 100% data entry compliance.

The education secretary has expressed concern over delays in uploading student admissions and attendance records, making it clear that complete attendance data must be uploaded on the system.

Authorities have set April 20 as the deadline for updating all required data. Officials warned that providing incomplete or incorrect information will lead to action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency Discipline and Accountability Act.

Monitoring teams will also conduct visits, and head teachers will be held responsible for any discrepancies found during inspections.

The move is part of efforts to improve transparency and record-keeping in the public school system.
