Detailed Report
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have named a 16-member squad for next month’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, with Shan Masood set to continue as captain and four uncapped players earning places in the red-ball setup.
Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori have all received their maiden Test call-ups for the series, which will be played in Dhaka and Sylhet in May.
Pakistan have made several changes from the squad that last featured in the home Test series against South Africa. Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, Kamran Ghulam and Rohail Nazir have all been left out this time.
Five members of the newly announced squad are currently part of the ongoing red-ball camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Those players are Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan.
The first Test is scheduled to begin on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, while the second match will be held in Sylhet from May 16 to 20. Both fixtures are part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
The squad will assemble in Karachi on April 27 for a pre-tour camp, which will run until May 1. The team is expected to leave for Bangladesh on May 2. Players currently involved in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) will join the camp after their franchise commitments end, while those featuring in the final will travel after the tournament concludes.
The board has also confirmed the coaching staff for the tour, with former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed appointed head coach of the red-ball side. Former Test cricketers Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul will serve as batting and bowling coaches respectively, while Abdul Saad has been named fielding coach.
