Govt Working on New Plan to Make Petrol Very Cheap for Bikers, Rickshaw Owners

Amid rising global fuel prices, the federal government has asked provinces to allocate Rs. 154 billion toward the proposed subsidy scheme to help shield motorcyclists and rickshaws from current burden of expensive fuel costs.

Sources said the government plans to introduce the subsidy specifically for two‑ and three‑wheeled vehicles at first.

Officials outlined two possible approaches under consideration:

A final decision on the scheme is expected after a high‑level meeting involving the President, Prime Minister, and Provincial Chief Ministers, likely scheduled for next week.
