Detailed Report
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has withdrawn no-objection certificates (NOCs) issued to Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, effectively barring them from holding dual roles in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).
According to sources, the decision means both PCB officials will no longer be associated with Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, where Sarfaraz had been serving as team director while Wahab was working as a bowling coach.
The move comes as part of a broader policy enforcement aimed at eliminating potential conflicts of interest. Both Sarfaraz and Wahab currently hold full-time roles within the PCB setup, Sarfaraz as a member of the national men’s selection committee, and Wahab as a mentor for the women’s team.
Officials familiar with the development said the board reviewed their dual responsibilities before revoking the permissions, reiterating that permanent PCB employees cannot simultaneously work with franchise teams.
Sarfaraz was recently appointed to the selection panel alongside Misbah-ul-Haq following a major overhaul earlier this month. The current four-member committee also includes Aqib Javed and Asad Shafiq.
Interestingly, Misbah continues to serve as batting coach for Peshawar Zalmi during PSL 11, highlighting some inconsistencies in the application of the policy.
The reshuffle in the selection committee came after the exit of Aleem Dar, who reportedly stepped down amid internal disagreements and concerns over his role in decision-making.
