Detailed Report
Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) and its joint venture partners have successfully appraised an existing gas discovery at the Bilitang-1 ST-1 exploratory well in the TAL Block, Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The joint venture, which includes MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. (operator), Pakistan Petroleum Limited, Pakistan Oilfields Limited, and Government Holdings Private Limited, confirmed gas and trace amounts of condensate from the Lumshiwal Formation at the well.
Spud in August 2025 and later sidetracked to target higher-quality reservoirs, the Bilitang-1 ST-1 well was drilled to a total depth of 4,004 meters, marking a significant step in the appraisal of the TAL Block’s hydrocarbon potential.
Testing of the Lumshiwal Formation yielded gas at approximately 26.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) at a 32/64-inch choke with a wellhead flowing pressure of 4,214 pounds per square inch. Trace amounts of condensate were also recorded.
OGDC said the appraisal de-risks further exploration in the TAL Block and opens new opportunities for the joint venture partners.
The discovery is expected to contribute to Pakistan’s energy security by increasing domestic gas production and expanding the hydrocarbon reserves base of the consortium and the country.
