Detailed Report
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has hired fresh graduates as part of the invigilation staff for upcoming matric examinations to ensure continuity of teaching in government schools.
Previously, teachers from government schools were assigned invigilation duties during matric and intermediate examinations, which affected classroom teaching.
Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Khalid said the new approach aims to reduce disruption, adding that half of the invigilation staff for the matric exams starting March 30 will comprise fresh graduates, while the remaining will be teachers.
He said the province has eight boards of intermediate and secondary education that conduct four examinations annually, requiring large numbers of teachers for supervisory roles. Under the new arrangement, fewer teachers will be deployed at examination centres, allowing them to continue academic activities in schools.
Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Controller Inamullah Shah said the board received around 6,200 applications from graduates through an online system and selected 1,250 candidates through a computerized draw.
He said selected candidates were required to submit character certificates, while training workshops have been arranged to prepare them for invigilation duties.
The board said strict action, including registration of cases, would be taken against any invigilator found involved in unfair practices during examinations. Each selected graduate will be paid Rs. 1,500 per paper for their services.
