OGRA Launches Digital Platform to Track Oil Products Across Pakistan

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has trained petroleum industry representatives on its new digital platform, a major step towards tracking and monitoring oil products across Pakistan. The session aimed to bring greater transparency and efficiency to the country’s oil supply chain.

Held at OGRA’s headquarters in Islamabad, over 200 participants attended in person, with many more joining online.

Officials from OGRA and PITB guided industry stakeholders through the system, which connects refineries, storage depots, and retail outlets in real time, allowing for better monitoring of imports, exports, production, stocks, and sales.

Shahzad Iqbal, Chairman of OGRA, highlighted the importance of digital transformation in the energy sector, saying it will improve oversight, reduce errors, and provide data-driven insights for decision-making. He added that this initiative will make the oil supply chain more transparent and efficient for regulators and businesses alike.

Technical experts from PITB walked participants through various platform modules, including refinery operations, sales reporting, transit tracking, and ERP integration. The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions, raise operational concerns, and provide feedback on practical challenges they face in the industry.

The move comes as part of OGRA’s ongoing efforts to modernize Pakistan’s oil sector, improve service delivery, and strengthen compliance. The digital platform is expected to help curb leakages, misreporting, and inefficiencies that have historically affected the petroleum market in the country.
