Mark Zuckerberg is Creating an AI CEO to Replace Him

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg is developing a personal artificial intelligence agent designed to assist with his daily responsibilities, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The AI agent, still under development, is intended to help Zuckerberg access information more quickly. It can retrieve answers that would otherwise require going through multiple layers of staff, a person familiar with the project said.

Zuckerberg’s broader goal is to make personal AI agents widely available, both within the company and externally.

Use of AI tools has increased across Meta, with adoption now influencing employee performance reviews. Internal message boards reportedly show employees sharing new AI use cases and tools built for workplace tasks.

Some employees are using personal agent tools such as My Claw, which can access chat logs and work files and communicate with colleagues or their AI agents.

Another tool, Second Brain, is gaining traction within the company. Built on Claude by a Meta employee, it can index and query documents for project-related work. The tool has been described internally as functioning like an AI chief of staff.

Employees have also created internal environments where personal AI agents can interact with each other. In some cases, these agents communicate directly to complete tasks on behalf of users.

Meta has expanded its efforts through acquisitions, including Moltbook, a social platform for AI agents, and Manus, a Singapore-based startup focused on task-executing personal agents.

The company has established a new applied AI engineering group focused on accelerating the development of large language models.

These teams are expected to operate with an ultraflat structure, with up to 50 contributors reporting to a single manager.

Employees have also been encouraged to attend regular AI training sessions and participate in hackathons aimed at building tools to improve productivity.
