Detailed Report
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 will start from March 26 without crowds. Also, match venues will be restricted to just Lahore and Karachi due to logistical reasons.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi today announced that all fixtures will be played behind closed doors until conditions improve. The league’s opening ceremony has also been canceled.
He said matches will be staged exclusively in Lahore and Karachi. Hosting rights for other cities, including Faisalabad and Peshawar, have been withdrawn.
The decision follows consultations with the federal government, including the prime minister and state security agencies.
To offset financial losses, the PCB will compensate franchises for reduced gate revenues, while ticket holders will be issued full refunds.
Meanwhile, PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer confirmed that franchises were consulted throughout the decision-making process. Organizers still expect strong viewership despite the latest restrictions.
Foreign players are scheduled to begin arriving immediately, with a revised match schedule to be issued to reduce travel between venues.
PCB has also initiated legal proceedings against players who withdrew from the tournament despite contractual agreements.
