The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, strong winds and thunderstorms on Thursday in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Islamabad, while parts of Punjab and Sindh are also expected to receive similar weather.
The department said some areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southern Balochistan may receive heavy rainfall, with isolated incidents of hail and lightning also expected.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, with snowfall expected over hilly areas.
Punjab is expected to see rain and thunderstorms in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, along with chances of hail in some areas.
In Sindh, most districts will remain partly cloudy, while Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Thatta, Badin and Tharparkar may receive rain and thunderstorms. Balochistan is expected to receive intermittent rain and thunderstorms in Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Chaman, Turbat and Panjgur.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience cloudy conditions with periods of rain, while higher areas may receive snowfall. Hail may also occur at isolated locations in Kashmir.
The PMD warned that strong winds and hail could damage standing crops in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, while landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The department advised tourists and travelers to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
