Detailed Report
The Sindh government has decided to introduce a digital attendance system for teachers and school staff using facial recognition and geo-fencing technology.
The initiative has been launched on the directions of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, with the School Education Department forming a committee to implement the system.
Under the plan, teaching and non-teaching staff will be registered through the FRAMES system, with mandatory verification of employees. Officials said attendance will be recorded through a mobile application using facial recognition, while geo-fencing will link the system to specific school locations.
A real-time dashboard will allow authorities to monitor attendance on a daily basis. The implementation committee includes data analysts, HRMIS officials, and district and tehsil officers, along with a representative of the application developer for technical support.
Authorities have also linked teachers’ biometric database and profiles with their respective schools to support the system. The education minister said the new system aims to strengthen discipline in the education sector and improve monitoring through transparent attendance.
He added that the use of technology will help enhance teaching standards and ensure effective oversight of schools. The mobile application is expected to be formally launched after Eid.
