Detailed Report
The Excise Department has confiscated bid securities after successful bidders failed to deposit payments for premium vehicle number plates within the given deadline.
According to the department, the highest bids included Rs. 17.5 crore for Dawar-1, Rs. 4.06 crore for Waziristan-1 and Rs. 3.35 crore for Bajaur-1. Each bidder had deposited Rs. 100,000 as security to participate in the auction.
The department had made it mandatory for successful bidders to pay the full amount through cross cheque at the time of the auction. However, after the failure to deposit payments within the stipulated time, the bid securities were forfeited.
Officials said the second- and third-highest bidders may now be offered the number plates. If payments are still not made, the department will hold a fresh auction.
