Rare Feat: FBR Exceeds Tax Collection Target to Start FY27

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs. 810 billion in taxes during July, exceeding its monthly target by Rs. 30 billion and giving the government a strong start to the new fiscal year 2026-27.

The tax authority had been assigned a revenue target of Rs. 780 billion for the first month of FY27 but surpassed it through higher-than-expected collections.

The better-than-target performance comes as the FBR begins work toward its ambitious annual revenue goal of Rs. 15.264 trillion for the current fiscal year, one of the highest tax targets in Pakistan's history.

Meeting the July target is considered an important milestone, as the government has committed to increasing tax revenues while maintaining compliance with budgetary commitments for the new fiscal year.
