Punjab Approves New Hiring of School Teacher Interns
The Punjab School Education Department has approved the continuation of already engaged School Teacher Interns (STIs) and directed authorities to begin fresh hiring against vacant positions across the province.
In a notification dated September 25, the department instructed all Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities (DEAs) in Punjab to take immediate action under the School Teacher Internship (STI) Program, 2024.
The department approved fresh agreements for currently engaged STIs, allowing them to continue their services from August 24, 2026, through May 31, 2027.
It also directed district authorities to start the recruitment process for new STIs against vacant slots according to the STI Program criteria and the district-wise allocation attached to the notification.
The department asked all DEAs to implement the government’s decision in accordance with the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria of the STI Program, 2024. It also directed the authorities to submit compliance reports to the School Education Department at the earliest and declared the matter a top priority.
