Construction Date Announced for Another | Quik

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to begin construction of the Kashmir Chowk underpass, with groundbreaking expected after September 27.

A CDA official said the authority has accepted a bid for the project and preparatory work is already underway. The contract was awarded to Habib Construction Services (HCS), whose financial bid stood at Rs. 1.45 Billion against the tender’s estimated cost of Rs. 1.486 Billion.

Workers have started clearing and grubbing the site, while the CDA is also planning traffic diversions and shifting utility services ahead of formal construction. The bidding documents set a 90-day completion period, but sources said the CDA expects HCS to finish the project within two months under a fast-track plan.

The underpass will be built at Kashmir Chowk on Murree Road, also known as Dhokri Chowk, near Islamabad Club. Traffic heading toward Rawalpindi from the Serena side will pass through the underpass, while vehicles traveling toward Murree will use its roof.

The project was designed by NESPAK’s Lahore team. Officials said the CDA aims to complete the work within the approved cost and avoid unnecessary changes that could increase expenses.
